Uncovering human rights violations in Myanmar through satellite imagery
This exhibition, part of the "Satellite Imagery Show Human Rights Violations in Myanmar" series, harnesses the power of Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) and artistic expression to expose and document ongoing human rights abuses in Myanmar. The items displayed on the boards at the exhibition consist of five sets, each featuring a pair of satellite images and corresponding artworks. These sets offer a visual narrative that combines data with artistic interpretation to bring attention to the human rights violations occurring in Myanmar. Through the fusion of satellite imagery with art forms, including photographs and 3D pen installations, narrative-driven displays bring the realities of Myanmar's situation to light. Despite attempts to suppress these truths through internet blackouts, phone line disruptions, and the targeting of journalists, this exhibition demonstrates that the truth can still be uncovered and shared with the world. The persistence of these efforts highlights the resilience of those committed to exposing human rights violations.
The data presented in this exhibition was sourced from the United Nations Human Rights Office (OHCHR) and Myanmar Witness.
